Ten European capitals developing mechanisms for mass evacuation in case of war with russia - Reuters

Ten European states have concluded a large-scale agreement on preparations for joint cross-border evacuation of civilians in the event of an armed conflict. This was reported by Reuters with reference to the Swedish Ministry of Defense.

Germany, Poland, Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, as well as Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania joined the initiative. As part of this cooperation, the partner countries undertook to jointly develop logistical routes, simplified border control rules and unified mechanisms for receiving refugees.

The Swedish Defense Ministry emphasizes that the key incentive for such unprecedented cooperation was the experience of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In particular, the department stated that the experience of Ukraine clearly demonstrated how temporary population relocation allows for the effective continuation of the country's defense while ensuring the protection of civilians.

The new planning will include not only the creation of transport corridors, but also the introduction of a system of registration of people and the development of measures to protect the most vulnerable groups. The main goal of the agreement is to create a single security space and maximum protection of citizens in the event of the worst-case scenario - open war in the region. It is worth noting that previously the Baltic and Northern European countries had only separate bilateral agreements, but the current agreement unites the efforts of ten states for a coordinated response to a possible crisis.

Recall that the Head of the Federal Intelligence Service of Germany, Bruno Kahl, stated that russia's attack on Europe depends on the course of the war in Ukraine. Russia may test NATO's collective security guarantees, and if the war in Ukraine ends before 2029-2030, this will increase the risks for Europe.

The head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, stated that if russia gains control over Ukraine, its next target will be Poland.
