A senior Iranian official has denied US President Donald Trump's claim that Iran has requested a ceasefire. His words were quoted by Al Jazeera on Wednesday, April 1.
The official noted that the US and Israel continue the war against Iran. According to him, Iran did not request a ceasefire, as announced by the US President.
"The Iranians deny that they requested any ceasefire," he said.
Recall that Trump stated that the new President of Iran requested a ceasefire, while the current President since July 2024 is Masoud Pezeshkian.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 1, US President Donald Trump stated that the "President of the new Iranian regime" allegedly appealed to Washington with a request for a ceasefire.
On April 1, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said that Trump would address the nation regarding the military operation in Iran to deliver "important news." Also on April 1, Trump said that the United States could conclude military operations against Iran within two to three weeks.
