On Wednesday night, April 1, the russian Defense Ministry confirmed the crash of an An-26 military transport plane that occurred during a scheduled flight over the territory of annexed Crimea. This was reported by DW.
According to official data from the russian military department, contact with the plane was lost on the evening of March 31, at around 6:00 pm local time. Later, a search and rescue team found the crash site and confirmed the death of all those on board. Six crew members and 23 passengers were killed in the plane crash.
The russian ministry claims that the plane was not exposed to external fire or other damaging effects before the crash. The military considers a technical malfunction of the plane to be the preliminary cause of the tragedy.
At the same time, sources from russian state news agencies, including TASS and RIA Novosti, report additional details of the incident, noting that the plane crashed into a rock at high speed. All circumstances of the incident, which led to the complete liquidation of the transport vessel along with its personnel, are currently being investigated.
Recall that earlier, the Ukrainian Armed Forces hit a russian A-50 aircraft and a plant in Alchevsk.
Earlier, the Ukrainian military used an FPV drone to destroy a russian Ka-52 helicopter, as well as the crew that tried to evacuate.
