Ukraine is converting the combat experience of its soldiers into concrete technical and energy assistance from the Middle East, and the list of potential partners has been expanded with new countries after the president's visits to Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar. Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced this in his evening address.
"There are already agreements in place – landmark agreements: Ukraine and Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. We are also working with Jordan and Kuwait. Rustem Umerov is currently in the region, continuing political-level negotiations – he reported to me today – and there are already additional requests from Bahrain and Oman," he said.
According to the Head of State, the Gulf countries show high respect for Ukrainian specialists and seek to work together on defense systems.
"We are exporting our system of protection, the skills of our warriors, the knowledge that our state possesses. And from these countries – from our partners – we expect reciprocal security engagement. We have already agreed on opportunities to strengthen air defense, on the joint development of defense production, and on energy cooperation, including diesel and other critical supplies that we need right now," Zelenskyy said.
The President emphasized that the issue of cooperation with the Gulf region is not only about prestige, but also about "a very concrete and practical" need for resources that the country needs now. Currently, Rustem Umerov continues negotiations in the region to fix new agreements at the political level.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Iran has accused Ukraine of "complicity in military aggression" by providing assistance to the Middle East countries.
President Zelenskyy met with the President of the UAE: agreed to cooperate in the field of security and defense.
