NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine is negotiating with the Greek government to expand energy supplies to cover the deficit caused by the destruction of domestic oil refining. The company's CEO Serhii Koretskyi has reported this, according to Reuters.
He emphasized the strategic importance of Greek ports and terminals for receiving liquefied natural gas from the United States. Although cooperation is already underway, current import figures need to be increased.
In particular, this refers to the use of the Vertical Corridor capacity, which has already passed 75 million cubic meters of gas in March. The preferential terms of transportation from the Revutus terminal allow Ukraine to receive the resource on more favorable terms, which is critical for stabilizing the energy system.
A separate point of the negotiations was the supply of diesel fuel, which has become a priority due to critical damage to Ukrainian plants. Serhii Koretskyi confirmed that Ukraine counts on the support of the Greek merchant fleet to establish regular fuel supplies. The parties agreed to further coordinate their efforts, including the use of Greek infrastructure as a key hub for Ukraine's energy security in the coming years.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Ukrainian diesel fuel market is secured with supplies until the end of March, but supplies for April remain uncertain amid rising prices.
