Government allocates another UAH 9.2 billion for protection of critical infrastructure - Svyrydenko

The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated another UAH 9.2 billion for the protection of critical infrastructure. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"245 critical infrastructure facilities in non-frontline regions will be protected as part of preparations for next winter. For this, the government has allocated UAH 9.2 billion for the implementation of the Regional Resilience Plans," she said.

Svyrydenko noted that this is the second tranche of financing for the resilience plans.

Of the total amount, UAH 5.2 billion will be directed to the Recovery Agency to protect large energy facilities, another UAH 3.5 billion will be received by the regions - for the construction of protective structures for distribution substations, transformers, gas distribution stations and other critical infrastructure facilities, and UAH 528 million will also be received by JSC Ukrzaliznytsia to strengthen the protection of its own facilities.

According to the Prime Minister, the allocated funds will cover 30% of the financing needs of the identified facilities and a share of the debt for work already begun.

"We have to prepare for winter now. We are doing this within the framework of the implementation of the Regional Resilience Plans. Priorities are the protection of energy facilities, the development of distributed generation, providing additional power sources for heat and water supply facilities, as well as the decentralization of heat supply," she emphasized.

Last week, the government allocated UAH 12.85 billion to frontline regions for the first work on preparing for next winter within the framework of resilience plans, the funds were directed to 209 critical infrastructure facilities in frontline regions and the Kyiv Region.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Svyrydenko previously stated that the implementation of the regions' energy resilience plans, along with the needs of Kyiv, requires funding in the amount of almost UAH 278 billion.
