The implementation of energy stability plans of the regions, together with the needs of the city of Kyiv, requires funding in the amount of almost UAH 278 billion. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko following a meeting with Ukrainian diplomats.
She emphasized that preparations for the next winter must begin immediately, without waiting for the end of the current cold snap.
"Today we must take urgent steps to prepare for the next heating season in the face of russian attacks on the critical infrastructure of our state," Yulia Svyrydenko said.
The main task for Ukrainian diplomats will be to attract international partners to finance these needs. The priority areas are increasing contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, purchasing the necessary equipment and building fuel reserves. The situation is complicated by the rise in world oil prices due to conflicts in the Middle East, which makes external assistance even more critical for the stable operation of the Ukrainian energy system.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that, based on the experience of this winter, the government is preparing a decision on the restructuring and renewal of energy supply to communities.
Svyrydenko also previously stated that the total cost of the regional resilience plan approved by the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) is UAH 216.32 billion.
