Ukrainian defenders have achieved significant successes within the framework of the advancing operation in the southern direction, restoring control over an area of about 470 square kilometers. This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.
During a working trip to the Southern Operational Zone, the Commander-in-Chief held a strategic meeting with the command of the offensive group and the heads of assault and airborne assault units.
"We continue to relentlessly liberate Ukrainian land from the invaders thanks to the courage and non-standard actions of our soldiers. Since the beginning of the operation, we have restored control over about 470 square kilometers, neutralizing more than 11,000 invaders," he said.
During the meeting, the implementation of current combat missions was analyzed in detail, the interaction of units in their areas of responsibility was coordinated, and priority options for further advancement were identified. Oleksandr Syrskyi emphasized that the deoccupation of Ukrainian lands continues thanks to the courage of soldiers and the use of non-standard tactical solutions that allow effectively displacing the enemy from fortified positions.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, over four days of intensive assault operations from March 17 to 20, the enemy lost more than 6,090 servicemen killed and wounded.
On March 19, Syrskyi reported that with the improvement of weather conditions, the russians have become more active at the front.
On March 22, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the russian occupation forces have intensified their attempts to attack from the border of the Sumy and Kharkiv Regions, trying to take advantage of the more favorable weather.
