The United States maintains a stable supply of critical missiles for the Patriot missile defense system, despite the escalating situation in the Persian Gulf and the shortage of weapons due to the war in the Middle East. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this in an interview with Reuters.
Despite the Ukrainian side's fears of a possible cessation of support due to the priority of another region, Washington is currently fulfilling its obligations to Kyiv. The president expressed gratitude to the American leader for his consistency, although he noted that the amount of assistance still does not cover all the needs of the Ukrainian sky.
"Deliveries to us were not stopped. I'm very grateful to President Trump, and to his team. But this supply of Patriot missiles is not as large as we need," the head of state emphasized.
Patriot missiles remain the only weapon in Ukraine's arsenal capable of effectively intercepting russian ballistic missiles, so uninterrupted supply is vital for the defense of cities.
Alongside the expectation of Western assistance, Ukraine is actively developing its own missile capabilities to retaliate against the aggressor country. According to the President, progress in the production of domestic long-range missiles and drones already allows them to hit targets deep in russia. Thus, Ukraine is building a combined defense strategy, where American air defense systems provide rear protection, and its own developments create tools for deterrence and retaliation for the bombing of Ukrainian territories.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy named the number of Patriot missiles transferred to Ukraine.
