Ukraine receives from EU all conditions for accession for the first time in history - Svyrydenko

For the first time in history, Ukraine has received from the European Union a full package of conditions, the fulfillment of which is necessary for accession to the EU. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Today, the Ukrainian delegation in Brussels received from the European Union the conditions for accession for the final three negotiation clusters. These are clusters 3 "Competitiveness and Inclusive Development", 4 "Green Agenda and Sustainable Connectivity" and 5 "Resources, Agriculture and Cohesion Policy". From now on, Ukraine has a full package of conditions, the fulfillment of which is necessary for accession to the EU - for the first time in history," she said.

Svyrydenko recalled that in December, the Ukrainian side received conditions – benchmarks – for three other clusters: 1 "Fundamentals of the EU accession process", 2 "Domestic market" and 6 "Foreign relations".

"We are confidently moving along the defined European integration path. The next steps are the successful closure of the clusters and the signing of the accession agreement, which will be the final step towards Ukraine's full membership in the EU," the Prime Minister noted.

She assured that the government will continue to fulfill the accession conditions – it will implement the necessary reforms, measures and report to the EU.

Svyrydenko added that the government will immediately send the document with the conditions received today to the Verkhovna Rada for joint work on their implementation.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka said that some European Union member states, in particular Germany, are expressing the need for a long period of verification of Ukrainian reforms before the country's final accession to the bloc.

In February, the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas stated that there is currently no agreement within the bloc on the specific terms of Ukraine's membership.

Ukraine wants to secure its future membership in the European Union in a peace agreement, in particular, to provide for EU membership from 2027.

On June 21, 2024, the EU Council approved the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession.
