Ukraine's accelerated accession to the European Union is one of the points of the plan to end the war and can take place as early as January 1, 2027. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has stated this, Novosti.rs reports.
According to the Serbian leader, these are agreements that concern not only Ukraine and russia, but also a large part of the international community. Vučić emphasized that he had heard about these plans from reliable sources.
"Now I'm going to tell you something that I heard somewhere, and I wouldn't tell you this if it wasn't true. So, I learned that part of the peace plan, if it is reached between Russia and Ukraine, is that not only one side will be committed to the implementation of the plan, but also a significant part of the international community. One of the points of the plan is that Ukraine will become a member of the European Union on January 1, 2027, which is actually tomorrow," the Serbian president said.
Vučić also noted that, in his opinion, Ukraine's accession to the EU is seen as one of the conditions for ending hostilities and implementing a peaceful scenario. At the same time, he expressed his belief that such a decision would cause resistance from a number of European states.
"Neither Poland, nor the Czech Republic, nor Hungary, nor Slovakia will agree with this. There will be a change in procedures, and it will be done by force, contrary to the regulations and all other rules," Vučić emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, US President Donald Trump's plan to establish a free trade zone with Ukraine could jeopardize Kyiv's aspirations to join the European Union, warned Crawford Falconer, the UK's former chief trade negotiator.
