On the morning of March 16, russian troops carried out a massive drone attack on Kyiv and the Region, using more than 30 drones, which was atypical due to the technical improvement of the enemy's equipment. This was reported by Yurii Ihnat, head of the communications department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during a telethon.

According to him, the drones are now equipped with special communication channels, in particular mesh networks, which allows the enemy to control them in real time. Ihnat noted that russia is spending billions of dollars on modernizing equipment, making it less noticeable to Ukrainian electronic warfare systems.
"The not-so-good news is that these drones have communication channels: mesh networks and other communication channels, the enemy can control them, they are of different types... The best news is that almost all of them were shot down," the Air Force spokesman noted.
Currently, experts are studying the wreckage of drones found in various areas of the capital, in particular on Maidan Nezalezhnosti, in order to finally identify their type. At the same time, information about a missile strike on Kyiv, which appeared earlier, has not been confirmed. Yurii Ihnat explained that the systems recorded a target that was similar in characteristics to a cruise missile, but there are currently no facts of hitting or confirming the missile's flight.
"A target was identified that resembled a cruise missile in terms of flight parameters. So far, the information has not been confirmed - what it was, whether it was an obstacle or some kind of false target, we are also establishing," Yurii Ihnat added.
Despite the technological improvement of russian UAVs, Ukrainian air defense forces managed to neutralize almost all air targets. The Air Force continues to analyze enemy tactics, as constant changes in the design of drones require adaptation of air defense and electronic warfare means.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the morning of March 16, russian troops launched an attack on Kyiv using drones. An air alert was declared in the capital at 08:28 am. The movement of a large group of UAVs was recorded, heading from the Chernihiv Region towards the Kyiv Region.
