Ukrainian farmers are forced to reduce potato prices and are trying to sell off existing stocks as quickly as possible.

This is stated in a report by the EastFruit project, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Extremely low demand for potatoes in Ukraine is forcing producers to reduce selling prices.

The report says that the main reason that provokes a decrease in potato prices, according to experts, is a significant increase in substandard products on the market.

According to experts, farmers have begun to actively sell off products from storage, the quality of which began to deteriorate rapidly after the onset of relatively warm weather.

Today, potatoes in Ukraine are offered for sale at UAH 6-13 per kilogram, which is on average 20% cheaper than at the end of the previous working week.

Many Ukrainian farmers today report significant potato stocks in storage, and trading activity in this segment remains quite low.

As a result, in order to stimulate demand for potatoes and sell off stocks before the start of field work, farmers are now reducing prices for these products.

It is worth noting that today potatoes in Ukraine are on average 61% cheaper than a year earlier.

At the same time, project analysts do not rule out that the trend towards a decrease in prices in this segment may accelerate significantly by the end of this month.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in early March 2026, the Ukrainian apple market is demonstrating a noticeable increase in retail prices, which is already being felt by consumers, and UAH 70 per kilogram is no longer the limit.
