At the beginning of March 2026, the Ukrainian apple market is demonstrating a noticeable increase in retail prices, which is already being felt by consumers, and UAH 70 per kilogram is no longer the limit.
This is stated in a report by the EastFruit project, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The report states that in Ukrainian supermarkets, varietal apples, in particular Golden Delicious and Red Chief, are sold for approximately UAH 70 per kilogram, and this would have seemed an unlikely scenario for the mass segment a few years ago.
The situation on the Ukrainian apple market demonstrates a gradual transition to a structurally higher price level, and even despite a fairly good harvest in 2025, prices have not returned to the levels of several years ago.
Significant price differentiation remains on the market.
As noted by Kateryna Zvereva, Director of Development of the Ukrainian Fruit and Vegetable Association (UPOA), Head of the international fruit and vegetable platform EastFruit, apples can be found at markets for UAH 40 per kilogram, while chain supermarkets, in particular discounters, sometimes offer cheaper items due to smaller caliber or lower quality of batches.
A few years ago, apple prices in Ukraine were at UAH 15-20 per kilogram. The main factors of growth were inflationary pressure, higher prices for storage, logistics and energy, as well as a gradual reduction in the supply of quality products at the end of the season.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, potato prices in Ukraine are increasing due to increased demand.
