The technical restoration of the Druzhba oil pipeline after the russian shelling is possible within two months. However, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is against the resumption of oil supplies from the aggressor country through the territory of Ukraine. He said this during a conversation with journalists, RBC-Ukraine reports.
"I'm just saying: if we decide to restore Russian oil, I want them to know that I am against it. And don't blame me for blocking it. I am not blocking. I am frankly saying: I am against it," Zelenskyy said.
He also emphasized that Ukraine was not involved in the shutdown of the pipeline.
"I did not blow up Druzhba. This is a fact. And no one can argue with this. "Druzhba was blown up by air targets that came from the Russian Federation. And more than once. There is a record of all the processes," Zelenskyy said.
He explained that the issue of repairing the oil pipeline is part of a broader negotiation process on Ukraine's financial security and EU membership.
"If we are talking about Druzhba, this is the second point. The first one is that Ukraine is not blocked and conditions are agreed upon. But it turned out that they jumped to the issue of repairs and asked: when will you repair? First, they need to decide whether they want to buy Russian oil. Then a joint decision will be made with America and other countries that do not always adhere to oil sanctions - China, Brazil, India," Zelenskyy emphasized.
The President added that in case of blackmail or imposing conditions without providing Ukraine with weapons, he cannot leave the army without support.
"Just in case, we have named a possible date for the technical restoration of Druzhba - up to two months. But the main question is whether Ukraine has the right to buy and transit Russian oil in Europe," he summarized.
Earlier, Fico said that the European Commission agrees to pay for the repair of the Druzhba pipeline and for transit through Ukraine.
