President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the massive attack by the russian army on the night of March 14. According to him, one of the main targets of the attack was the energy infrastructure of the Kyiv Region.
The Ukrainian leader emphasized that the production and supply of missiles for air defense systems is critically important for us, as russia may try to use the war in the Middle East to increase the destruction in Ukraine.
The Head of State said this on his Telegram channel.
The Head of State informed that work was underway in the Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Mykolaiv Regions to eliminate the consequences of the massive russian attack, involving all necessary services.
"The main target for the Russians was the energy sector of the Kyiv Region, but unfortunately, there are also hits and damage to ordinary houses, schools, and civilian enterprises. As of now, we know about four killed people. My condolences to all the families and friends. There are many wounded, and people are still seeking medical attention," Zelenskyy emphasized.
The President said that during the night attack, russian troops used about 430 drones of various types and dozens of missiles. In particular, 13 ballistic missiles were recorded, and the total number of missiles reached 68. Air defense forces, according to preliminary data, managed to shoot down 58 of them.
Thus, according to Zelenskyy, such attacks once again demonstrate Ukraine's urgent need for air defense systems and missiles for them, and all agreements on the supply and increase of production should be implemented as soon as possible.
"Russia will try to take advantage of the war in the Middle East to destroy more here in Europe, in Ukraine. That is why we need to be conscious of the real level of threat and prepare accordingly, namely, we need to develop in Europe the production of missiles for air defense - and especially against ballistic missiles - and all other necessary systems that will allow us to really protect life, no matter what happens in any other part of the world. Europe is capable of providing such reliable protection. I thank everyone who helps!" the Head of State summarized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of Saturday, March 14, russian troops launched 68 missiles of various types and 430 drones over the territory of Ukraine, air defense forces managed to neutralize 460 air targets: 58 missiles and 402 drones.
