The spokesman for the Central Headquarters of Hatem al-Anbia of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Ebrahim Zolfaqari, said that the world should be prepared for oil prices to reach USD 200 per barrel. It was reported by Reuters on Wednesday, March 11.
Zolfakari said Iran attacked merchant ships in the Gulf of Hormuz on Wednesday and also struck Israel and targets in the Middle East. He said Iran could still resist despite what the Pentagon called the most intense strikes between the United States and Israel.
"Get ready for oil to be USD 200 a barrel, because the oil price depends on regional security, which you have destabilised," Zolfakari said, addressing the United States.
The newspaper writes that Iranian officials have "made it clear" that they intend to inflict a prolonged economic shock as long as the war lasts. In addition, Zolfakari said Iran would retaliate by attacking banks that do business with the United States or Israel in response to the overnight attacks on banks in Tehran. He said people across the Middle East should stay 1,000 meters away from banks.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on March 11, Iran released a new list of potential targets, which included US tech giants Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Nvidia, IBM, Oracle and Palantir in Israel, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and other locations across West Asia.
