Saudi Arabia in talks to buy Ukrainian interceptor drones - WSJ

Saudi Arabia has shown interest in Ukraine's experience in countering Iranian drones and is currently discussing the purchase of a large batch of interceptor drones. The Wall Street Journal reports this, citing its own sources.

The deal could be worth millions of dollars. In addition to unmanned systems, Riyadh is considering the possibility of purchasing Ukrainian electronic warfare (EW) equipment to protect its territory from air attacks.

Ukrainian technologies have also attracted the attention of other Gulf states. In particular, representatives of Qatar have already visited Ukraine to see with their own eyes the operation of anti-UAV systems. The interest of foreign partners is due to the fact that Ukraine has successfully implemented cost-effective methods of intercepting targets: instead of expensive missiles, drones are used that destroy enemy aircraft by colliding with them or blowing them up next to them.

WSJ notes that Ukraine's combat experience in the use of electronic warfare and specialized interceptor drones is becoming a new standard of defense for countries facing threats from Iranian Shaheds. Although an official contract with Saudi Arabia has not yet been signed, active negotiations indicate that Ukraine is recognized as a leader in the development of innovative air defense systems.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine has received 11 requests from countries bordering Iran, as well as from the United States and Europe, for assistance in shooting down Iranian drones.

Washington also recognized the mistake of ignoring the Ukrainian proposal to protect against Iranian Shaheds.
