The need for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will now be formed automatically based on data from the frontline. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has announced this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"I signed an order on a new approach to defense procurement of UAVs. From now on, the need for drones will be formed on the basis of high-quality data from the battlefield - without the human factor, subjective influence and corruption risks," he said.

Fedorov noted that the transition from manual formation of needs to an automatic model will allow removing the "zoo" of ineffective solutions that the military are forced to finalize with their own hands in the trenches, the state will purchase only what really flies, hits targets and has proven its effectiveness at the front.

The General Staff, at the request of the units, will form a list with only the technical characteristics of the equipment - without the name of the UAV or a specific manufacturer.

The UAV rating will determine which products to purchase for the units at the front based on combat data from digital systems: eBalls, DOT-Chain, Brave1 Market, DELTA and Mission Control:

eBalls - statistics of the real effectiveness of the means on the battlefield;

DOT-Chain and Brave1 Market - data on what military units buy on their own (real demand on the ground);

DELTA and Mission Control - a synchronization matrix and analytics of combat use.

"This is the first time that procurement decisions are made automatically based on real combat data. If the drone does not fly or does not hit targets, the system simply does not generate a need for it. Only the real combat result is important," Fedorov explained.

Fedorov also said that the Defense Ministry is introducing a new approach to budget allocation:

80% of the funds will be allocated exclusively to solutions that have proven their effectiveness according to the systems data;

20% of the funds will be left for innovation and the purchase of new developments for testing in combat conditions.

"Such solutions will help strengthen the Defense Forces, give the military the most effective tools on the battlefield and inflict losses on Russia that make it impossible for it to advance," the minister said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Fedorov said, that the Ministry of Defense is working on an analog of the Chinese compact DJI Mavic quadcopters, already testing solutions that will soon be scaled up at the front.
