US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Volz said that russian assistance to Iran, if any, is ineffective and expressed confidence in the response of US President Donald Trump.

He said this on the "Meet the Press" program on March 8, NBC News reports.

On Friday, four sources told NBC News that russia is providing Iran with intelligence on the location of US forces in the Middle East, including intelligence that could help Iran locate US warships.

In response to reports that russia is sharing intelligence with Iran, Volz said he has "no doubt President Trump will deal with it accordingly." Asked whether he believes russia has entered the conflict, Volz replied: "We know that both Russia and Iran have had this symbiotic relationship."

"If they are providing anything, it certainly hasn’t been very effective, because the U.S. military is decimating Iran’s air force, air defenses, navy, ground forces, command and control. So whatever they’re providing, if they’re providing anything, hasn’t shown to help them very much," Volz said.

The day before, Trump himself stated that he had no reason to believe that russia was supporting Iran. According to him, if russia is helping, it is "doing it badly."

At the same time, US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff said that he had asked russia not to provide intelligence to Iran.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that "cooperation between Iran and Russia is not something new, it’s not a secret." He did not specify whether russian intelligence helps Iran locate American military facilities.

"They are helping us in many different directions. I don’t have any detailed information," he said.

It should be noted that The Washington Post also reported on russia's assistance to Iran. According to the publication, Moscow provides information about the US Army's infrastructure in the Middle East, which Tehran uses to launch missile and drone strikes.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the first week of the military operation against Iran cost the United States USD 6 billion. It is expected that the administration of President Donald Trump will appeal to the US Congress for additional funding.

In addition, according to CNN, US intelligence has information that China is preparing to provide Iran with financial assistance, as well as components and spare parts for missiles. The day before, it also became known that the aggressor country, the russian federation, provides Iran with data on the location of American military facilities in the Middle East.
