SESU completes search and rescue operations after missile hit at five-story building in Kharkiv - Klymenko

Rescuers completed search and rescue operations in a five-story residential building in Kharkiv, which was hit by a russian missile on Saturday.

The Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko announced this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

He noted that the search and rescue operations lasted for more than two days.

"Rescuers dismantled heavy concrete structures meter by meter. In total, more than 2,400 cubic meters of building materials were removed. It was a targeted strike. In the middle of the night, when dozens of families - residents of this five-story building - were sleeping. Unfortunately, 10 people died, including 2 children: a 7-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl. Body fragments were also unblocked from under the rubble, identification is still ongoing," Klymenko said.

At least 16 people were injured as a result of the attack, including 3 children.

The minister added that dog handlers with search dogs will continue to work even after the rescue operation is completed - according to statements, 4 more people remain missing.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in total, about two dozen houses, cars, and an educational institution were damaged as a result of this strike.

Hundreds of specialists were involved in dismantling the rubble and eliminating the consequences of the missile strike.

Dog handlers, climbers, an engineering unit, and teams from the State Emergency Service from other regions worked.

Psychologists provided assistance to dozens of people.

The work was complicated by constant air raid sirens.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on March 7, at about 1:35 a.m., the russians launched an Izdeliye-30 missile at a five-story building in the Kyivskyi District of Kharkiv.

As a result of the attack, the entrance to the building from the first to the fifth floor was destroyed.

Ukraine was under massive attack by Shaheds and missiles overnight, the authorities and military reported the consequences.
