JSC Oschadbank demands Hungary return collection vehicles and valuables that the country illegally seized. This is announced in the bank's official statement.
"After the illegal seizure in Hungary on March 5, 2026 of seven employees of Oschadbank, two collection vehicles and valuables that they were transporting, Ukrainian citizens returned home. But the vehicles and valuables still remain illegally detained," the JSC noted.
The company added that further protection of Oschadbank's rights in resolving the incident in Hungary will consist of two directions:
- Appealing the decision on restrictive measures on the possibility of staying in the EU, which were unjustifiably imposed on employees of the bank's collection team by the Hungarian migration service. The issue of violation of the rights of Oschadbank employees during their detention for more than 24 hours without providing the right to access legal assistance and consular support will also be considered in detail.
- Taking legal steps to return the bank's property - two collection vehicles and valuables worth USD 40 million, EUR 35 million and 9 kg of bank gold.
Oschadbank emphasizes that it is absolutely confident in the legality of its actions. The full amount of information and supporting documents has been transferred to the National Bank of Ukraine. To further confirm its legal position, the bank will contact one of the leading international companies to conduct an independent audit of the processes and contractual relations between all parties involved in the transportation of funds and valuables.
"Oschadbank demands the return of its collection vehicles and valuables that they transported in full," the JSC urges.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the morning of March 6, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reported that Hungary had seized 7 employees of Oschadbank who were traveling with money on a collection flight from Austria. Hungarian law enforcement agencies hid two stolen Oschadbank collection cars in the closed territory of the Anti-Terrorism Center. The amount of valuables in the stolen cars amounted to USD 40 million, EUR 35 million, 9 kg of gold.
Oschadbank, in turn, stated that the transportation of funds and valuables was carried out directly by the bank within the framework and in fulfillment of an international agreement with Raiffeisen Bank, Austria.
On the evening of March 6, Ukraine achieved the return of seven collectors detained by Hungary.
In addition, the National Police of Ukraine initiated criminal proceedings into the kidnapping of Ukrainian citizens and a company car of Oschadbank JSC in Hungary.
