The draft of the updated Labor Code regulates video surveillance at workplaces. This is stated in the report of the Ministry of Economy, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Video surveillance in the workplace is used in many companies today. The problem is that the current labor legislation does not provide special, clear and understandable rules on the limits of permissible control, how employees should be informed, how access to records is restricted, and how privacy is protected. This is exactly what the draft Labor Code does: it sets limits, safeguards, and procedures based on the approach used in EU countries," the statement said.

The Ministry notes that video surveillance (as well as monitoring of work correspondence) are defined as extreme control measures, possible only if objectively necessary and with mandatory notification of the employee, while control cannot violate the right to respect for private and family life.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in January, the Cabinet of Ministers proposed to the Verkhovna Rada to adopt a new draft Labor Code.
