The National Police of Ukraine launched criminal proceedings over the abduction of Ukrainian citizens and a company car of Oschadbank JSC in Hungary. This is stated in a message of the National Police on Facebook on Friday, March 6.
Officers of the National Police's Department of International Police Cooperation have contacted Europol, the Hungarian Tax and Customs Service and the police through official channels to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
"The incident was registered in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal imprisonment or abduction of a person) and Article 147 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hostage-taking)," the statement said.
Investigative actions are ongoing.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on March 6, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that Hungary had captured 7 employees of Oschadbank who were traveling with money on a collection flight from Austria.
Sybiha said that Ukrainian consuls have not yet been granted access to seven Ukrainian citizens taken hostage in Budapest, Hungary.
On March 6, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommended that Ukrainians refrain from traveling to Hungary due to "the inability to guarantee their safety against the backdrop of arbitrary actions of the Hungarian authorities."
