Since October 2025, the aggressor country of russia has damaged more than 9 GW of generating capacity of thermal power plants (TPPs), combined heat and power plants (CHPPs) and hydroelectric power plants (HEPPs), 3.5 GW has been partially restored after the attacks. This was announced by First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Shmyhal noted that Ukraine has gone through the most difficult winter in the history of independence.

He reported that about 900 MW of distributed generation have been commissioned, including 400 MW of new gas and cogeneration plants, and the available capacity for importing electricity has also increased from 1.7 GW to 2.45 GW.

The Energy Support Fund attracted EUR 691.45 million, the energy portfolio already includes 55 investment projects worth about UAH 1 trillion.

Shmyhal also reported that the government has systematized the work of the Energy Equipment Hubs, has already received 114 shipments of equipment weighing 1,713.2 tons, and shipped 405 shipments weighing 3,335.78 tons from the Hub warehouses.

At the same time, he emphasized that the government has maintained the preferential price for electricity and gas for household consumers.

"We have already begun preparations for the next heating season. Our task is to restore everything that can be restored to the maximum; to protect energy facilities to the maximum, to build distributed generation, and to create reserves of resources and equipment. Russia is not giving up its energy terror, and we must be ready for next winter," Shmyhal noted.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine wants to attract EUR 5 billion to prepare for next winter.
