Ukraine is to receive Mirage 2000-5 aircraft from France, which effectively destroy cruise missiles and attack drones, including Shaheds. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced this on Wednesday, March 4.
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the additional delivery of Mirage 2000-5 will significantly strengthen the protection of the sky, as these multi-role fighters are equipped with digital avionics, modern radar systems and electronic warfare systems.
"Mirage 2000s are equipped with powerful radars and weapons, including high-precision Magic-2 missiles. This allows them to effectively detect and neutralize stealthy cruise missiles and Shahed, Geran and Gerbera attack drones. They can also neutralize enemy reconnaissance aircraft of the operational and tactical level. Thus, Mirage 2000 is important for countering Russian aerial terror, defense against which is one of the priorities of Ukraine's War Plan," the statement said.
In addition, the Mirage 2000's suspension is adapted for all types of NATO-standard aircraft weapons, allowing the use of Storm Shadow/SCALP missiles, AASM Hammer bombs and other types of weapons.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, France continues training Ukrainian pilots to operate Mirage 2000 fighters.
On September 29, 2025, Ukraine's Deputy Defense Minister, Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk, said that Ukraine expects additional deliveries of the F-16, French Mirage and Swedish Gripen fighters.
In February 2025, then-French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu said that the first French Mirage 2000 fighters were already in Ukraine.
