In February, Ukraine regained control over more territory than russia was able to capture - Syrskyi

In February 2026, for the first time since the Kursk offensive operation, the Defense Forces of Ukraine regained control over more territory than the enemy was able to capture. This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"We survived this difficult "battle for the winter". The total losses of the russian invaders over the three winter months are about 92,850 servicemen killed and wounded, or 1,031 people per day," he said.

Syrskyi emphasized that during the three winter months, the Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated more enemy soldiers than the enemy recruited into its ranks.

He also reported that the Defense Forces of Ukraine are conducting effective active actions in the Oleksandrivka and Huliaipole Axes, contrary to the repeated reports of the russian leadership, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are only strengthening control over Kupyansk and reducing the "population" of enemy saboteurs in the city, and also continue to restrain the enemy in the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad agglomeration area.
