The president of the Iranian Football Federation said he did not know if the national team will be able to play World Cup matches in the United States after the attack on his country by the United States and Israel.

"There is no doubt that after this attack we cannot look forward to the World Cup with hope," Mehdi Taj told the sports portal Varzesh3.
Iran has been drawn in Group G of the World Cup and is scheduled to play in Inglewood, California, against New Zealand on June 15 and Belgium on June 21, before completing the first round against Egypt in Seattle on June 26.
The United States is hosting the tournament jointly with Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
Meanwhile, Iranian fans have already been banned from entering the United States under the first version of the travel ban announced by the Trump administration.
FIFA has not yet responded to the current situation with Iran's participation in the World Cup.
As a reminder, on February 28, US President Donald Trump made an official statement confirming the start of a large-scale military operation against Iran.
Meanwhile, the IDF announced the elimination of 40 key Iranian military commanders and all high-ranking leaders of the "Iranian axis of terror." The US reported the death of 3 of its soldiers as a result of the operation against Iran.
And Iran said that it would not negotiate with the US.
