The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Ali Larijani, has said that Iran will not negotiate with the US.
He reported this on the social network X.
Thus, in response to media reports that Iran has appealed to Washington through intermediaries to resume negotiations, Larijani said: "We will not negotiate with the United States."
In addition, he accused US President Donald Trump of "plunging the region into chaos with his 'delusions' and now fears new losses among the American military."
"With his own illusions, he turned the slogan 'America First' into 'Israel First' and sacrificed American troops for Israel's thirst for power," Larijani's statement said.
He also accused Trump of "making American soldiers and their families pay the price with new lies."
Meanwhile, the US President told The Atlantic magazine on Sunday that Iran wants to talk after a series of strikes by US and Israeli forces on the country that killed Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.
"They want to talk, and I agreed to talk, so I will talk to them. They should have done it earlier. They should have offered something that was very practical and easy to do, earlier. They waited too long," Trump told the journalist.
Ali Larijani is Iran's top security official and one of the closest associates of slain former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. He said on Sunday that an interim leadership council would be established after Khamenei's death.
He oversees a wide range of issues, from nuclear talks to Tehran's regional ties and a brutal crackdown on domestic unrest. In recent months, Larijani has also made several trips to Moscow, a key ally, to discuss a number of security-related issues, Reuters reports.
Recall, on February 28, US President Donald Trump made an official statement in which he confirmed the start of a large-scale military operation against Iran.
Meanwhile, the IDF announced the elimination of 40 key Iranian military commanders and all high-ranking leaders of the "Iranian axis of terror".
The US announced the death of 3 of its soldiers as a result of the operation against Iran.
