Russia destroys 19th-century Prince Trubetskoy Chateau in Kherson Region: winery survived WWI and WWII

The historic Prince Trubetskoy winery in the Kherson Region, renamed Stoic Winery in 2023, was completely destroyed by russian strikes. The chateau survived occupation, looting, and numerous damages, and now pro-russian Telegram channels have shared a video of direct airstrikes on the chateau.

This was reported by the winery's sommelier Oleh Novosiolov.

"Hits on Prince Trubetskoy's winery. What was restored over the years has been completely destroyed," the report says.

At the beginning of the full-scale war, the winery came under russian occupation, then the invaders stole and broke wine from the cellars, bombed warehouses. Workers were forced to flee.

At the same time, this is the third war for the chateau: it underwent a revival after World War II, the decline of the post-Soviet era - it was built almost from scratch.

Recall that in 2023, the winery, located in the village of Vesele, Kherson Region, changed its name to Stoic Winery. The owners emphasized that the identity and future of the chateau should not be associated with the russian prince.

"It hurts not only for the walls. It hurts for the work of people. For the vineyards. For the dreams and plans that were built over the years.... I am glad that I was involved in the recent history and development of this place and saw how it was revived. Today, the winery will remain only in memories and photos. But I believe: someday there will be life again in this place," Novosielov added.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, meanwhile, on February 21, russian terrorist troops attacked an American enterprise in the Sumy Region. We are talking about Mondelez, which produces world-famous food brands such as Milka, Oreo, and Barni.
