Explosions were heard in Crimea: attack reported near Belbek and Saky airfields

On the evening of February 19, a series of explosions occurred in the temporarily occupied Crimea. According to local Telegram channels, the Belbek and Saky military airfields could have been hit.

It was reported by Crimean Telegram channels.

The russian side claimed that air defense was working and allegedly "repulsed the attack."

At the same time, local publics reported active shooting, missile launches and drone flights in the area of Sevastopol and on the western coast of the peninsula.

Eyewitnesses reported loud explosions near the Belbek military airfield near Sevastopol. Flashes were visible in the sky, searchlights were working and tracer rounds were heard. There were also reports of explosions near the Saky airfield in Novofedorivka.

Around 11:20 p.m. - 11:30 p.m., residents of different districts of Sevastopol heard powerful explosions. According to preliminary data from open sources, a fighter jet could have taken off from the Belbek to intercept an air target. Witnesses claim that the plane launched a missile, but it did not reach the target. After that, the fighter jet used heat traps and headed in the direction of Yevpatoriia.

In addition, an explosion was reported over Andriivka near Sevastopol at around 11:30 p.m. Searchlights were also observed in the area of the village of Soniachnyi.

Later, the russian Defense Ministry announced the alleged downing of several drones over Crimea and the Black Sea. There is no official information about possible hits on military targets. There is no data on damage to civilian infrastructure at the time of publication.

Reminder, on the night of December 20, long-range drones of the SSU Alpha Special Operations Center hit two Su-27 aircraft at the russian military airfield Belbek in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
