The European Union does not demand that Ukraine repair the damage to the Druzhba pipeline and restore its operation so that Hungary and Slovakia can receive russian oil again.

The European Commission's spokesperson, Anna-Kaisa Itkonen, made the statement on Thursday, February 19, as cited by Yevropeiska Pravda.

"So on Ukraine restoring the Drushba pipeline, I want to be very, very clear that we are in contact with all relevant authorities, including Ukraine, to seek clarity on the repair timeline. We're not pushing; we're not pressuring or giving deadlines to Ukraine to do this," Itkonen said in response to journalists' questions.

She noted that the aggressor country russia has been using Ukraine's energy infrastructure for four years to export its oil and at the same time destroying it. In view of this, the European Union does not push Kyiv and does not set any deadlines for it.

At the end of January, as a result of a massive air attack by the russian army on Ukraine, infrastructure facilities were damaged, which stopped the pumping of russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline. As a reminder, the pipeline supplies oil to refineries in Hungary and Slovakia.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on February 18, Hungary said that Budapest suspends diesel exports to Ukraine due to Kyiv's alleged reluctance to repair the Druzhba pipeline.

And today it became known that the Hungarian leadership is considering the possibility of a complete shutdown of electricity and gas exports to Ukraine due to the situation with the Druzhba oil pipeline.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico also announced the suspension of diesel fuel supplies to Ukraine
