The Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works has started supplying rolled products to Metinvest Tubular Products Iași (Romania), which became part of the Group at the end of 2025.
This is said in a statement by the company, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
The report says that since the beginning of this year, the company has shipped 22,000 tons of hot-rolled steel from structural steel grades certified according to the European standard EN 10025, and in total, in 2026, the pipe plant plans to supply up to 180,000 tons of rolled products.
"Zaporizhstal rolled products are in demand among European and Ukrainian pipe makers: up to 80% of our steel products are shipped annually for the manufacture of longitudinal pipes and profiles," said Taras Shevchenko, Acting CEO of Zaporizhstal and Hero of Ukraine.
Shevchenko emphasized that hot-rolled products made of calm structural steels are in demand in the pipe industry due to their mechanical properties, which ensure the reliability and strength of finished products. Such products can withstand significant loads, including impact loads, work under pressure, weld well and maintain stable performance characteristics.
The largest consumers of Metinvest Products Iași's pipes are the Romanian domestic market, as well as companies from Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and other European countries.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Zaporizhstal stopped all production processes on January 7 due to the loss of external power supply caused by russian shelling of the region.
In 2025, compared to 2024, Zaporizhstal increased its steel production by 10.3% to 3.2 million tons, according to the company's annual report.
The main shareholders of Metinvest Group are SCM (71.24%) and Smart Holding (23.76%), which participate in the management of Metinvest on a partnership basis.
100% of SCM's shares are owned by businessman Rinat Akhmetov, while Smart-Holding is controlled by Vadym Novynskyi.
