The massive illness of the Verkhovna Rada members is not related to the food in the Rada canteen, they were diagnosed with norovirus.

The Verkhovna Rada Secretariat announced this on its Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Diseases of MPs of Ukraine and employees of the Secretariat are not related to food in the dining room of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. This conclusion was made by the Center for Preventive Medicine of the State Management of Affairs based on the results of the investigation," the statement said.

It is noted that after reports of possible cases of poisoning, the Verkhovna Rada Secretariat immediately initiated a set of measures with the involvement of relevant specialists.

So, representatives of the Center for Preventive Medicine of the State Management of Affairs inspected the canteen and its employees, documentation, food, the cooking process, and conducted a study of drinking water and water for cooking. Experts from the Kyiv City and Regional Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health were also involved in the laboratory tests.

"The PCR study found that the same type of virus was detected in the persons who passed the tests - norovirus (an acute infectious disease that often spreads in closed and crowded areas and is transmitted by household contact and airborne droplets)," the statement said.

It is noted that the device has taken additional measures to prevent the spread of infection.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on February 12, the Rada failed to consider any of the scheduled issues due to lack of votes, Yaroslav Zhelezniak, an MP from the Holos faction, announced mass poisoning in the parliamentary dining room, while the possibility of the virus spreading was also suggested.
