The combined strike of the aggressor country of russia on the night of February 17 was specially calculated to cause as much damage to the energy sector of Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"Rescue and repair work is underway in many of our regions after the massive russian attack. The combined strike was specially calculated to cause as much damage to our energy sector as possible. Almost 400 drones and 29 missiles of various types were used, including ballistics. A significant number were shot down, but, unfortunately, there are also hits," he said.
Zelenskyy said that in total, 12 regions were under attack, nine people are known to have been injured, including children, more than ten residential buildings and railways were damaged, and tens of thousands of people were left without heat and water supply in Odesa after the drone strike.
The President imposed that partners must respond to all these attacks on life, russia must be held accountable for aggression, and the pressure of sanctions on it must increase.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on February 16, Zelenskyy instructed to prepare additional protective measures in light of intelligence information about russia preparing a massive strike.
According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the night of Tuesday, February 17, russian troops launched 29 missiles of various types and 396 strike drones over the territory of Ukraine, air defense forces managed to neutralize 392 enemy targets - 25 missiles and 367 drones, 4 ballistic missiles and 18 strike UAVs were hit at 13 locations, as well as the fall of downed aircraft (fragments) at 8 locations.
