President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that some Western partners, including the United States, are raising the issue of the need to hold elections in Ukraine.

Zelenskyy said this during a conversation with journalists on Wednesday, February 11, as quoted by Radio Svoboda.

According to him, he does not intend to announce elections or a referendum on the day of the anniversary of the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the aggressor country of russia. Earlier, the British edition of the Financial Times wrote about this.

"I hear this for the first time. The first time I heard, probably, from the Financial Times, the second time I hear from you. I have spoken many times about the elections - we move on to the elections when there are all the relevant security guarantees," Zelenskyy said.

The President emphasized that Ukraine is ready to hold elections and they are very easy to implement. To do this, it is necessary to ensure a ceasefire. If there is a ceasefire, there will be elections.

Zelenskyy added that some Western partners, including the United States, are raising the issue of holding elections. At the same time, Washington does not threaten to refuse to provide security guarantees.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the day before, the Financial Times wrote, citing sources, that President Zelenskyy allegedly intends to announce the elections on the day of the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion of russia.

Later, the media outlet wrote, citing the Presidential Office, that holding elections is possible only if there is a proper security situation. Until it is, no elections will be held.
