First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held a closed meeting with energy specialists and the military to discuss strengthening Kyiv's defense against the attacks of the russian aggressor country.
Shmyhal announced this on his Telegram channel on Wednesday, February 11.
According to him, on the instructions of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, a closed meeting of the Headquarters for Elimination of the Consequences of the Emergency Situation in the Energy Sector was held. This time, in addition to power engineers, representatives of the Ukrainian Defense Forces took part in it.
"Most of the information is not public. In the context of possible further Russian attacks, we discussed strengthening Kyiv's active air defense. In particular, of energy facilities," Shmyhal wrote.
The Minister added that other critical infrastructure facilities that need protection were also identified and prioritized at the headquarters meeting.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the day before, President Zelenskyy said in an interview with Bloomberg, that as a result of the massive attacks of the occupiers, Ukraine has lost up to 10 gigawatts of generation capacity.
On February 10, the President said that he had instructed the Ministry of Defense and the Defense Forces of Ukraine to rebuild the air defense system in several regions at once.
Also, on February 10, Zelenskyy criticized the pace of the Ukrainian Air Forces to improve the effectiveness of protection against russian UAVs.
