President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of January 30 on security guarantees for Ukraine. This is stated in Decree No. 111 of February 11, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
The National Security and Defense Council, having considered the proposals to provide Ukraine with security guarantees prepared as a result of the work of the Ukrainian delegation to participate in the negotiation process with the United States and other international partners of Ukraine, as well as with representatives of russia to achieve a just and sustainable peace, instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Ministry of Defense, to immediately prepare and submit to the President draft international treaties on security guarantees for Ukraine.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in early January, Zelenskyy said that US security guarantees for Ukraine are ready for finalization with US President Donald Trump.
Zelenskyy also said that the United States has offered Ukraine a security guarantee agreement for a period of 15 years, and he suggested that Trump consider the possibility of providing Ukraine with long-term security guarantees for up to 50 years.
Trump denied that security guarantees for Ukraine depend on the retreat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the Donbas.
