US security guarantees for Ukraine ready for finalization with US President Donald Trump. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"Rustem Umerov reported on the results of our team's negotiations in France yesterday. A bilateral document on security guarantees for Ukraine is actually ready for finalization at the highest level with the President of the United States," he said.
Zelenskyy stressed the importance of Ukraine managing to continue to combine the work of the European and American teams, in particular on documents on reconstruction and economic development.
He also reported that the negotiating teams in France also discussed complex issues on the basic framework for ending the war, and the Ukrainian side presented possible options for finalizing this document.
"We understand that the American side will communicate with russia, and we expect feedback - is the aggressor really ready to end the war," he noted.
Zelenskyy added that upon returning to Kyiv, the Ukrainian negotiating team will report on all the details of the meetings.
The President also announced that Ukraine is informing its partners about the consequences of the russian strikes, which do not indicate that Moscow is reconsidering its priorities.
"In this context, it is necessary for the pressure on russia to increase just as the negotiating teams are working intensively. The realism of future security guarantees must be proven by the ability of partners to exert effective pressure on the aggressor at this stage. We are preparing new appropriate contacts with partners," he noted.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy previously announced that the United States would provide Ukraine with security guarantees that would be legally binding, analogous to Article 5 of the NATO Charter.
Zelenskyy also stated that the United States had offered Ukraine a 15-year security guarantee agreement, and he suggested that Trump consider providing Ukraine with long-term security guarantees for up to 50 years.
