The aggressor country russia will need to lose another 800,000 troops to fully capture thye Donbas. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made the statement in an interview with France 2, as quoted by Le Monde.

"We, the Ukrainians, know very well how much the Russian army pays for every meter, every kilometer of this land. They do not count the dead. To conquer the entire Donbas, they will need another 800,000 bodies. They will not last that long," Zelenskyy said.

The President added that in almost four years since the start of the full-scale war, the russian army has not won a single real victory.

Zelenskyy also said that freezing the front line would be a big mistake on Ukraine's part, as russia would take advantage of the short break to resume its offensive.

"If we talk about the demilitarized zone, we have to control our part," the head of state emphasized.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 26, Zelenskyy set the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the Defense Forces of Ukraine a task to bring the losses of the russian army to 50,000 killed per month.

As Bloomberg later wrote, citing estimates by European experts, the increase in losses of the russian army may lead to a weakening of moscow's negotiating position in the foreseeable future.
