US prepares additional sanctions against russia, but no signs of implementation - Bloomberg

The United States has prepared additional sanctions against the aggressor state of russia, but there are no signs of their implementation. Meanwhile, Europe has also prepared another package of sanctions - for the anniversary of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

This was reported by Bloomberg, citing sources.

It is reported that Europe has prepared another package of sanctions, timed to coincide with the four-year anniversary of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022. It is also stepping up measures against russia's shadow fleet, but, according to European officials, these measures are more like a slow puncture of tires than fighting fire with fire.

At the same time, the sources of the publication reported, asking not to be named due to the sensitivity of the diplomatic situation, that the US has prepared additional sanctions against russia, but there are no signs of their implementation, they said.

European officials, who are said to be watching the peace talks with growing skepticism about putin's intentions to end hostilities, have stressed that russia is exerting maximum pressure on Ukraine. After failing to achieve decisive successes on the battlefield, russia is striking civilian and energy targets in an attempt to force Ukraine to agree to an unprofitable deal, they said.

At the same time, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the latest attacks would have consequences for Ukraine's approach to the talks in Abu Dhabi. He added that russia responded to Trump's call to temporarily halt strikes "not to support diplomacy, but to stockpile missiles and wait for the coldest days of the year."

As a reminder, the Foreign Ministry said that the main goal of the trilateral talks in the UAE is to check the readiness of russia and the United States for concrete steps, as well as to receive responses to Ukrainian proposals.
