The main goal of the trilateral talks in the UAE is to check the readiness of russia and the US for specific steps, as well as to receive responses to Ukrainian proposals. This was stated by the Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi during a briefing.
"The Ukrainian side expects to hear and see from these meetings what feedback the russians will bring. After the last round, they had time to coordinate their positions with their leadership, having heard what was discussed last time, the proposals of the Ukrainian side," the spokesman explained.
Tykhyi stressed that the composition of the delegations directly indicates the priority of the topics: on the table are military and military-political issues, as well as the humanitarian bloc.
"The focus of these negotiations will be primarily military and military-political issues. This is evident from the composition of the delegations. There are many nuances about how hypothetically the end of the war, in which Ukraine is interested, can occur," the Foreign Ministry representative emphasized.
According to him, it is critically important for Ukraine to understand the true positions of all participants in the process:
"The Ukrainian side's interest is to find out what the russians and Americans are really up to in this context," he said.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 28, Rubio said that Ukraine and russia had only one issue left to resolve in order to end the war.
On February 1, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the next trilateral meeting of Ukraine, the United States, and the aggressor country, the russian federation, would be held on February 4 and 5 in Abu Dhabi.
