Deposits of citizens and individual entrepreneurs in Ukrainian banks exceed UAH 1.6 trillion

As of January 1, 2026, the total amount of deposits of individuals (including individual entrepreneurs) in Ukrainian banks amounted to over UAH 1,617.7 billion, which is UAH 225.5 billion more than the same indicator last year.

This is evidenced by data from the Deposit Guarantee Fund (DGF), Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Of the total amount of deposits of individuals as of January 1, 2026:

- deposits in national currency – UAH 1,073.3 billion (+UAH 173.8 billion for 2025);

- deposits in foreign currency – UAH 544.4 billion (+UAH 51.7 billion for 2025).

The share of individual entrepreneurs in the structure of depositors as of January 1, 2026 was 3.2%, and in the structure of the amount of deposits - 12.5%. The amount of their deposits amounted to UAH 201.8 billion, which is UAH 32.9 billion more than last year. It should be noted that deposits of individual entrepreneurs are subject to guarantees of the Deposit Guarantee Fund.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, from April 13, 2022, on the day the Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine Regarding Ensuring the Stability of the Deposit Guarantee System of Individuals" comes into force, for the duration of martial law in Ukraine and for three months after its cancellation or termination, 100% guarantees apply to deposits of individuals (including individual entrepreneurs) in Ukrainian banks. After the end of the three-month period from the date of cancellation or termination of martial law, the maximum amount of guaranteed compensation for depositors of Ukrainian banks will be UAH 600,000.

All banks in Ukraine are members of the Deposit Guarantee Fund. As of January 1, 2026, there were 61 banks in the register of members of the Fund.
