In two districts of Kyiv, more than 1,100 houses left without heating due to strike on power system - Klitschko

A massive night attack on the capital led to critical damage to the facility that provides heat to the Darnytskyi and Dniprovskyi districts, and residents of thousands of apartments were left without heating.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced this on his Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The infrastructure facility that provides heat to these houses was severely damaged tonight. Experts are assessing the extent of its damage and the prospects for restoration," the mayor wrote.

According to him, due to the threat of pipes freezing, city services resorted to radical steps: they drained the water in the heating systems to avoid freezing.

Currently, energy and utility workers are trying to understand whether it is possible to quickly restore the facility and how quickly heat will return to the homes of Kyiv residents.

In districts where heat has disappeared, the city is urgently deploying additional heating support points. They are based mainly in schools and are connected to mobile boiler rooms, which allows people to be there around the clock.

Currently, 5 large support points and 36 points from the State Emergency Service are operating in 20 locations in the Darnytskyi district, 4 large support points and 27 points from the State Emergency Service in 20 locations in the Dniprovskyi district.

The mayor called on Kyiv residents to follow the official resources of the Regional State Administration and the State Emergency Service, where the exact addresses of all heating points are published.
