First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal, in addition to energy, will also oversee issues of national security and defense, digitalization and healthcare.
This is stated in the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 99 of January 28, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
According to the resolution, Shmyhal's competence includes, in particular, the following issues:
- national security in the military sphere, defense and military construction in peacetime and special periods;
- state military-industrial policy; defense procurement, state defense order; defense-industrial complex;
- state industrial policy; aircraft manufacturing industry; space activities; innovative activities in strategic industries;
- digitalization; informatization; development of the IT industry; development of virtual assets, blockchain and tokenization, artificial intelligence;
- organization and conduct of gambling;
- health care; protection of the population from infectious diseases.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 14, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Denys Shmyhal to the position of First Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Energy.
