German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that Berlin is no longer able to transfer Patriot systems from its warehouses to Ukraine, as the country has already made a "disproportionate contribution" by giving away more than a third of its own arsenal. It was reported by DW.
According to him, further deliveries are now impossible, as the Bundeswehr must maintain resources for training personnel and maintaining systems, waiting for the replacement of the equipment already transferred.
At the same time, the official acknowledged that the number of delivered IRIS-T systems is also insufficient. He noted that Germany remains the only country that supplies these systems to Kyiv "in a sense on a regular basis," but due to the growing intensity of russian attacks, previous deliveries are still lacking. In this regard, Pistorius called on Western partners to conduct a joint inventory of their own weapons stockpiles, especially in those countries that may still have available reserves.
The German minister also harshly criticized the kremlin for its systematic attacks on the Ukrainian energy sector. He emphasized that amid diplomatic talks about a ceasefire, russia continues to attack civilian targets with "relentless cruelty and brutality" in the face of harsh winter conditions. Pistorius called such actions particularly cynical, characterizing them as terror against the population and a gross violation of international law.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy agreed with Trump in Davos on the transfer of missiles for Patriot.
In November, Ukraine also received air defense systems promised by Germany and personally by Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
