The analytical resource Global Firepower has published an updated ranking of military power of the world's countries for 2026. According to its results, Ukraine ranked 20th among 145 countries, entering the top twenty strongest armies on the planet.
When compiling the rating, experts took into account more than 60 different indicators. It is not only about the number of personnel and the number of weapons, but also about economic opportunities, demographic resources, defense spending, logistics and infrastructure.

Among the key advantages of Ukraine, the authors of the rating noted a significant number of active army and reserve forces, an existing fleet of military equipment, naval capabilities (in particular, through the use of marine drones), a developed railway network, coal mining and defense funding.
At the same time, Ukraine's weaknesses included the absence of a submarine fleet, large warships (such as aircraft carriers, frigates, corvettes or destroyers), its own tankers, as well as high volumes of oil, gas and coal consumption.
In the overall standings, Ukraine was ranked next to such countries as Spain (18th place), Egypt (19th), Poland (21st) and Taiwan (22nd).

Thus, Ukraine retains its position among the strongest military powers in the world, although it is not among the top ten.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, as of January 2023, Ukraine has risen in the ranking of the world's most powerful armies to 15th place amid a full-scale invasion by the aggressor country russia.
In 2024, Ukraine was ranked 8th in the ranking of the world's strongest armies according to the version of the American news magazine U.S.
