The Kremlin announced talks involving russia, the US and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi, while directly declaring its intention to continue the war against Ukraine.
This was reported by Yuri Ushakov, an aide to russian dictator vladimir putin, whose words are quoted by russian media.
According to him, the first meeting of the trilateral working group on security issues is to be held in Abu Dhabi on Friday, January 23. Russia will be represented by senior officials of the Ministry of Defense, and the delegation will be headed by the head of the GRU Igor Kostyukov.
Yuri Ushakov noted that the members of the delegation received clear instructions from putin regarding the russian federation's position.
Separately, he reported that Kirill Dmitriev and Steve Witkoff will meet in Abu Dhabi as heads of the bilateral working group on economic issues.
At the same time, the Kremlin has effectively rejected the possibility of a quick peace. According to Ushakov, without a resolution of the territorial issue, Moscow sees no prospects for a long-term settlement and intends to continue hostilities.
"Russia will continue to resolve issues on the battlefield until a settlement is reached," he said.
Ushakov also added that russia and the United States have agreed to maintain intensive contacts "on Ukrainian and other topics."
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 22, Zelenskyy and Trump met in Davos. After a conversation that lasted about an hour, the US President said that the meeting was "very good."
