President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that US President Donald Trump is really capable of ending the russian-Ukrainian war because he is conducting a dialogue on an equal footing with russian dictator vladimir putin.
Zelenskyy made the corresponding statement while talking to journalists after his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, RBC-Ukraine writes.
According to him, whether to continue the war or not is the decision of the aggressor country. However, Ukraine wants to stop this war.
"And that is why I think that President Trump can, he really can, because he is conducting a dialogue with putin. Not everyone is conducting a dialogue, even just a dialogue. He is conducting a dialogue with putin on an equal footing," Zelenskyy said.
The Ukrainian leader added that the US wants to find a compromise solution. Kyiv is open to different steps, but these must be compromises from both sides.
He also stressed that he is not sure about the desire of the russian federation to end the war in the situation it is in. The russian army is tired, and the economy is exhausted. The Ukrainian army is also tired, but Kyiv is honest and speaks about it directly.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 22, a meeting between Zelenskyy and Trump took place in Davos. After a conversation that lasted about an hour, the US President said that the meeting was "very good".
Following the conversation with Trump, Zelenskyy also said that the leaders had a productive and meaningful meeting. He also thanked the US President for the supply of missiles for air defense systems.
Recall, after the meeting with Zelenskyy, Trump conveyed a message to putin, which is that the russian-Ukrainian war must end.
