Ukraine has confirmed information about russia's preparations for new massive attacks on the Ukrainian energy system. Rostyslav Palahusynets, Deputy Permanent Representative of Ukraine to International Organizations in Vienna, has reported this during a meeting of the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation, Urinform reports.

The enemy's plans to strike at the critical infrastructure that ensures the operation of nuclear power plants pose a particular danger.

"We have enough information about preparations for further Russian strikes on our energy sector and infrastructure, including facilities and networks serving our nuclear power plants," he emphasized.

Palahusynets emphasized that the current winter campaign of the russian federation has a clear humanitarian dimension and is aimed at the physical destruction of the population.

"War criminal Putin continues to wage a genocidal war against women, children and the elderly. This winter campaign has a clear humanitarian dimension: the attacks are synchronized and structured to maximize suffering as temperatures plummet to extreme levels and disruptions in heat, electricity and water supply become life-threatening," the Ukrainian representative added.

According to the Ukrainian delegation, 256 air attacks on critical infrastructure have been recorded during this heating season alone, and since January 11, attacks on the energy sector have become almost daily. According to the diplomat, such actions of the russian federation are a deliberate creation of conditions for the destruction of the people, which falls under the definition of the Genocide Convention.

"Ukraine is as constructive as possible in diplomacy, while Russia is focused only on hitting and abusing people," he said.

In connection with the critical threat, the Ukrainian delegation called on the OSCE countries to move from declarations to concrete actions. It is about accelerating the supply of air defense systems, ammunition and expanding the means of combating missiles and drones. Rostyslav Palahusynets also thanked international partners, including Poland, Norway, Britain and Germany, for their financial and technical support of the energy sector, and mentioned the Heat for Kyiv initiative in particular.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, according to the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection, the most difficult situation with electricity supply in Ukraine is currently observed in Kyiv and the Kyiv Region. The previously published schedules of hourly power outages are not in effect there.

Meanwhile, The New York Times claims that the aggressor country russia has stepped up attacks on Kyiv's critical infrastructure to disrupt heating and power supply in the capital. These actions are aimed at undermining the morale of the citizens and making Kyiv uninhabitable.
